Discovery Center Wins $10K ‘Golden Ticket’ on Give to the Max Day

The center's playground project received one of just two 'super-sized' tickets awarded during the event.

Orono Public Schools’ Discovery Center was one of the big winners in last week’s Give to the Max Day event, GiveMN.org announced over the weekend.

The center’s playground project was one of two initiatives to win a $10,000 “Super-sized Golden Ticket.” GiveMN.org chose the two winners randomly—one nonprofit winner and one school winner.

Orono Public Schools wants to raise $68,000 by the spring of 2014 in order to replace the aging equipment of the Discovery Center’s current playground.

In addition to the $10,000 Golden Ticket, the playground also brought in $1,000 worth of donations during Give to the Max Day 2013, the organization’s first time participating in the event.
