Details on Orono High School's Class of 2013 Graduation Ceremony

Orono High School will conduct commencement ceremonies June 6 at Pesonen Stadium.

Some 215 seniors are expected to receive their diplomas at Orono High School’s 62nd annual commencement ceremony, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 6, in Pesonen Stadium. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the OHS gymnasium, which has limited seating.

Two students have been selected to address their classmates. They are Spencer Cumming and Dorothy (Dorcy) Jaffray. Also speaking will be Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Orcutt and OHS Principal David Benson.

The OHS Wind Ensemble, directed by Tim Arnold, will perform “Pomp and Circumstance” by Edward Elgar and “The Great Gage of Kiev” from “Pictures at an Exhibition.”  The OHS Choir, directed by Nichole Brenna, will sing “Loch Lomond Traditional Scottish” arranged by Jonathan Quick.

Honored guests selected by the Class of 2013 are: Jesse Allex,  OHS mathematics teacher; Andrew Gagnon, OHS social studies teacher; Karla Heussner, OHS mathematics teacher; Dennis Lynn, OHS Social Studies teacher; Jay Nelson OMS social studies teacher; Greg Pusch, OHS social studies teacher; Gary Severtson, OHS science teacher; and Larry Williams, OHS English teacher.

A congratulatory reception, hosted by the parents of OHS juniors, will immediately follow the ceremony in the Memorial Courtyard.

(alcohol, tobacco, guns).  No tickets - If we’re outside, seating is pretty much unlimited.  If the ceremony moves indoors, it’s first come, first served.
