Community Pitches in to Help Orono Students Pack 125,000 Meals

Local businesses and residents supported efforts to feed those in need.

On Thursday, Feb. 16, it was all work and no play in the gymnasium of Orono High School. The school's 900-plus students, staff members, community members and local business owners packed nearly 125,000 meals.

The event was organized by Orono High School Character Counts. Its student leaders are David Cook, Allie Esau, Sophia Sodhi and Talia Zadeh. OHS Associate Principal Caryn Boyd is the Character Counts advisor.

ImpactLives assisted with the event. Most recently, its food crates were distributed in Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Nigeria, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
