Campus News: Lake Minnetonka College Students Recognized for Academic Achievement

The following local residents have been named to Drake University's President's List for the Spring 2013 semester. Students must have a grade-point average of 4.0 to receive this honor.

Anna Pendleton of Long Lake earned a perfect 4.0 GPA and has been named to Hofstra University’s Provost's List. Anna, a senior, is majoring in Linguistics.

Natasha Kieval of Medina was named to the Dean’s List at Tufts University for the spring 2013 semester.

The following local residents graduated from Drake University at the conclusion of the spring 2013 semester:

• Ryan Gabriel of Independence graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Marketing.
• Catherine Bangasser of Excelsior graduated with a Doctor of Pharmacy in Pharmacy.

• Bethany Locklear of Delano earned a BA in Business. She is the daughter of Bruce and Dawn Locklear from Delano.

• Megan Matson of Mound earned a BA in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Scott and Lisa Matson from Mound.

• Bria Quaintance of Excelsior earned a BA in Elementary Education. She is the daughter of Roy and Sandra Quaintance from Excelsior.

• Elizabeth Rendahl of Excelsior earned a BA in Individualized Major. She is the daughter of Mark and Susan Rendahl from Excelsior.

• Brett Skoog of Long Lake earned a BA in Business. He is the son of Paul and Sherry Skoog from Long Lake.

• Noelle VanValkenburgh of Excelsior earned a BA in Business. She is the daughter of Sue Lano from Excelsior.

• Gavin Woodland of Waconia earned a BS in Biokinetics. He is the son of Rebecca Woodland from Waconia.

Miami University awarded degrees to a pair of local students during spring commencement exercises Saturday, May 11, at Yager Stadium. Miami University is a public university located in southwestern Ohio.

• John William McArthur of Excelsior received a Bachelor of Arts degree.
• Eleanor Jayne Stauffer of Long Lake received a B.S. in Kinesiology & Health degree.

Miami University students who ranked in the top 20 percent of undergraduate students within each division for second semester 2012-2013 have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance.

Lauren Elizabeth DeJute of Orono was named to the Miami University President's List.

The following local students from Colgate University were recipients of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2013 spring term at Colgate University.

• A member of the Colgate class of 2014 and majors in Economics, Charles DeVries is a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and lives in Long Lake.
• A member of the Colgate class of 2015 and majors in Economics, Parker Weinstock is a graduate of Minnetonka High School and lives in Excelsior.

A pair of local undergraduate students attending the University of Kansas earned honor roll distinction for the spring 2013 semester:

• Ethan Ness, of Shorewood. Ness is a senior studying management and leadership. He was named to the honor roll for the School of Business.
• Brooke Winston, of Orono. Winston is a sophomore studying pre-journalism. She was named to the honor roll for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
