Campus News: Lake Minnetonka College Kids Earn Academic Honors

Casey Simonson, a junior chemistry-biology major, has been named to the Dean's List at Ripon College for the fall 2011 semester. Simonson is the child of Dr. and Mrs. Philip G. Simonson of Mound.

Reed Mandel of Wayzata was one of 358 undergraduates named to Denison University's 2011 fall semester Dean's List by Provost Bradley Bateman. Mandel is a member of the Denison class of 2015.

Jacqueline Stone of Minnetrista has been named to the President's List at Benedictine College. To achieve the President's List, students must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours and have a perfect 4.0 grade point average. Of the 1,630 undergraduate students on campus for the 2011-2012 academic year, only 59 made the President's List.

Benjamin Weidmann of Deephaven has earned Dean's List honors for the fall semester of the 2011-12 academic year at the University of New Hampshire.

Emily Ferguson, a member of the class of 2014 at Skidmore College, earned term honors for the fall semester. She is the daughter of Merrill Ferguson and Shauna Barry-Ferguson of Greenwood.

Charles DeVries is a recipient of the Dean's Award for academic excellence during the 2011 fall term at Colgate University, where he is a member of the Class of 2014. DeVries is the son of Mr. Timothy C. DeVries and Mrs. Gayle W. DeVries.

Sean Michael Sayler of Long Lake has been named to the Dean's List at Clemson University for the fall 2011 semester. Sayler is majoring in Marketing.

The following local students have been named to Beloit College's Dean's List for the fall semester:

Located 90 miles northwest of Chicago, Beloit College is a residential, liberal arts college offering 40 majors to its 1,250 students.

Kaitlin Hibbs, daughter of Arthur and Karen Hibbs of Mound, graduated with a major in anthropology from Ithaca College's School of Humanities and Sciences. The degree was awarded in December 2011.

Paige Robertson, of Minnetrista, earned a spot on the Loyola Marymount University Dean's List for the Fall 2011 semester. Located between the Pacific Ocean and downtown Los Angeles, Loyola Marymount University is the largest Catholic institution of higher education on the West Coast.

Charles Velie, a resident of Wayzata and a first-year at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, is listed on the honor roll with distinction. To be listed on the SMU honor roll with distinction, students must be in the top 10 percent of their school of record. SMU's Fall 2011 enrollment included 10,537 students.

The following local residents were among more than 1,321 students from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls who made the fall semester Dean's List.

The University of Wisconsin-River Falls is located on 226 acres just 30 miles from downtown St. Paul.

The following local students have been named to the Dean's List at Drake University. This academic honor is achieved by earning a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher during the Fall 2011 semester at Drake.

Drake is a private, independent university in Des Moines, Iowa, with an enrollment of approximately 3,300 full-time undergraduate students from 50 states and 50 countries. 

Sean McMenamin of Excelsior earned Dean's List honors at Saint Joseph's University for the Fall 2011 semester. McMenamin is majoring in food marketing at the university.

Natalie Hahn of Mound graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in December of 2011 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in art. Hahn is a graduate of Mound Westonka High School.

Andrea Rose Witt of Mound received a Bachelor of Science in journalism from the University of Kansas. Rose was among more than 1,600 candidates for degrees for the fall 2011 semester.

Emilie Holmgren of Excelsior has been named to the St. Lawrence University Dean's List. Holmgren is a member of the class of 2015. St. Lawrence, the oldest continuously degree-granting co-educational college in New York State and has about 2,300 students.

Joey Vitas of Orono and Adam Rafowitz of Wayzata have earned a place on the Berklee College Of Music Dean's List. The Berklee curriculum focuses on practical career preparation for today's music industry.
