(VIDEO) State Sen. Gen Olson Talks Education on Capitol Report

Lake Minnetonka's state senator says $50 per student increase each year will "buffer negative impacts" of school funding payment schedule.

State Senator Gen Olson (R-Minnetrista) was interviewed by Capitol Report last week. Olson chairs the Education Committee and said the new K-12 finance bill, which shifts another $700 million in scheduled school payments, isn't something anyone is happy about.

"Given the circumstances of the time and the need to get to the point of reopening government and ensuring our essential services continue with as little disruption as possible for people's lives, we needed to go forward," she said.

Olson's interview begins at the 3:30 mark.
