Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will be in the Lake Minnetonka area later this month for a $2,500 per plate fundraiser.
Minnesota Public Radio is reporting that an invitation obtained by the radio station indicates the fundraiser will take place Aug. 23 at the Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach. The MPR report goes on to say that it will be the only event Romney attends in Minnesota this election season and that a $50,000 donation will secure an invite to a private dinner at a home in .
A source active in the local Republican party confirmed during a late Tuesday night conversation with Patch that Romney would visit Lake Minnetonka but declined to share specific details or discuss a guest list.
Romney's last visit to Minnesota came back in early February, when he was during a rally in Eagan.
Multiple reports speculate that Romney has whittled his list of vice presidential picks to a handful of prospects and that former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty is among them.
Romney's scheduled Aug. 23 visit to Lake Minnetonka will come less than week before the Republican National Convention in Florida, where he is expected to officially secure the party's nomination for president.
The 2012 election takes place Nov. 6.
Patch will have additional updates to this story as they become available.
