Congressman Paulsen Will Forego Pay for Duration of Government Shutdown

As other members of Congress justify taking their pay, the Republican representing Lake Minnetonka communities says "no."

Lake Minnetonka's congressman won't accept his salary while the federal government is shut down.

Congressman Erik Paulsen wrote a letter Tuesday saying he would forego his pay for the duration of the U.S. government shutdown.

Paulsen's move comes as members of Congress state their position one way or the other on taking pay — in at least one case citing the U.S. Constitution to justify the paycheck.
