Police investigating several thefts, cuff accused drunk drivers

Below is a brief recap of reports the Wayzata Police Department has responded to and investigated during the last week. Information is provided to the media by the Wayzata Police Department. In all, police received 68 calls of various types over the last seven days.

- A 44-year-old Wayzata man was arrested in the early morning hours of April 5 and later charged with driving while intoxicated. Javier Cisneros faces several counts of criminal conduct, including second-degree DWI, after officers stopped the vehicle he was driving on the 200 block of Central Avenue North in Wayzata.

- Police report 15 orange yard marking stakes were stolen from a residence along Benton Avenue North sometime around the afternoon of April 5. Value of the stakes is estimated at $105.

- An as yet unidentified individual passed a counterfeit $20 bill at the BP fueling station in Long Lake on April 6. The incident happened about 8 a.m. and remains under investigation.

- Police suspect intruders gained entrance to a home on Greenhill Lane in Long Lake last week. The incident was reported on April 6. Information provided by the Wayzata Police Department indicates no permanent damage or loss. Investigation into the report is ongoing.

- A wallet left on the counter of a McDonalds in Wayzata was reported stolen just before 9 p.m. on April 6. The wallet reportedly contained approximately $75 in cash.

- An unidentified individual faces a possible third-degree DWI charge following an April 8 traffic stop near the intersection of Barry Avenue and Wayzata Boulevard. The car was pulled over just before midnight, and test results of driver are pending.

- A Minneapolis man has been charged with fourth-degree driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on April 9. Carl Gibbs, 44, was arrested just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday night on the 1000 block of Wayzata Boulevard East. Breathalyzer results allegedly indicate Gibbs’ blood alcohol content was .12.

- A diagnostic code scanner was reported stolen Monday afternoon from the BP service station on Wayzata Boulevard East. Police say the piece of equipment is valued at approximately $2,000. Investigation into the theft is ongoing.
