Wayzata Police Issue Crime Alert Following Monday Burglary

Residents asked to report all suspicious activity to Wayzata police or call 9-1-1.

The Wayzata Police Department says a burglary earlier this week may be connected to others in surrounding suburbs.

On Monday, April 2, a residential burglary was reported in the Holdridge neighborhood on the east side of Wayzata. Entry to the home was gained by forcing open a locked door and occurred during daytime hours.

Police say surrounding suburbs are also experiencing a number of similar burglaries that may be related and are asking anyone with information that might be helpful to this investigation to contact Wayzata Police by calling 952-404-5340 or 9-1-1 after regular business hours.

Wayzata police are reminding residents to lock their doors and do what they can to make their home look lived in and occupied. Lights with timers (more than one) are a good deterrent.

If away for an extended period of time, police suggest stopping newspaper and mail delivery and to have a trusted person check the home regularly to retrieve unexpected packages, etc.

Wayzata residents may also request that the Wayzata Police Department make random checks of their home while they are away by completing a “House Check” card—available at the Wayzata Police Department or on the Police Department page on the city of Wayzata website at www.wayzata.org.
