Wayzata Police Issue Crime Alert After Resident Interrupts Burglary

A Wayzata resident interrupted a burglary Wednesday afternoon on the 100 block of Peavey Lane on the city's west side.

Police say they were dispatched to the residence just before 12:30 p.m. and report the homeowner walked into her open garage to find a man inside her vehicle.

The suspect ran from the home on foot. He is described as African American and approximately five-feet, ten-inches tall. The suspect had what police describe as a full afro and was wearing dark clothes and carrying a royal blue backpack.

Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of this call to and are reminding residents to report any suspicious activity by dialing 9-1-1.

Wednesday's interrupted burglary was the second in the Lake Minnetonka area in a week. Early last week , sparking a manhunt that lasted several hours.
