Wayzata Police Blotter: Vandalism Spree, Curfew Violation and Stolen Vodka

Police believe recent string of vandalism reports in Long Lake are connected; orange paint balls used to target multiple homes and vehicles over the weekend.

An unidentified male shoplifted two bottles of Grey Goose vodka, valued at more than $100, from Wayzata Wines and Spirits. The theft occurred around 11:30 a.m. Nov. 19.

Unknown person or persons "tagged" and spray painted playground equipment at Nelson Lakeside Park in Long Lake sometime during the overnight hours of Nov. 19 and 20. Sidewalk, fencing and a stop sign were also spray painted with red paint. Police say the case is related to similar graffiti found on the Lakeside Wine and Spirits building in Long Lake, which is less than a block away and was vandalized a few nights prior.

Two cars were hit with paint balls both Friday and Saturday nights, Nov. 16 and 17, on the 2100 block of Grand Avenue in Long Lake. Orange paint was present on the cars, and the acts occurred around 11:30 p.m. both nights. Police say the incidents are under investigation and believe they are related to numerous other incidents.

A no pay for gas was reported just before 10 p.m. Nov. 18 on the 1300 block of Wayzata Boulevard. Loss was $79, but police say the suspect later returned and paid for the fuel.

A home on the 100 block of Inglewood Street in Long Lake was hit by paint balls Nov. 18. The incident is under investigation.

A pickup truck and the side of an apartment building were hit with orange paint balls Nov. 18. The incident occurred on the 300 block of Brown Road North in Long Lake. Several other residences in the area were also targeted.

Suspects poured chocolate syrup and cat food on the garage door and passenger side of a vehicle on Inglewood Street in Long Lake Nov. 17. Police say they have identified possible suspects and are continuing their investigation.

Six juveniles from Plymouth and Medina were cited for curfew violation just after 2:30 a.m. Nov. 17. One juvenile was also cited for underage possession of alcohol. The juveniles were parked near the warming house of Klapprich Partk. Parents were contacted.

An 18x24 painting of a fall scene was stolen from a store entrance Nov. 15. Loss is estimated at more than $350. The theft occurred Nov. 15 on the 400 block of Willow Drive in Long Lake.
