Wayzata P.D. Blotter: Moped Crash, Suspicious Wig Man and DWI Arrests

The following are a selection of notable incidents responded to by the Wayzata Police Department between April 24 and April 29. Not intended to be a comprehensive log of activity.

An attempted burglary of a business on the 800 block of Lake Street was reported around noon April 29. The door to the business was damaged, but entry was not gained.

A gas drive off resulting in a loss of $44 was reported April 28 just before 1 a.m.

Police arrested a 36-year-old male from Long Lake just around 2 a.m. April 28 on the 1300 block of Wayzata Boulevard West after a vehicle was observed in the parking lot of a closed business. The driver has been charged with third-degree DWI and test refusal.

A 65-year-old male from Spring Park was arrested at 10:30 p.m. April 26 following a routine traffic stop near the intersection of Mill Street and Superior Boulevard. The driver was charged with fourth-degree DWI, and initial tests indicated a blood alcohol level of .13.

Officers responding to a moped accident with injuries arrested a 19-year-old male April 26. The accident occurred near the intersection of Ridgeview Drive and Hwy. 12, and the moped driver was charged with DWI. Initial tests results indicated a blood alcohol level of. 08.

Two individuals were arrested for domestic assault around 4 p.m April 24 after police were called to an address on the 600 block of Wayzata Boulevard East. A 23-year-old male and a 25-year-old female both face domestic assault charges following the altercation.

A caller reported a suspicious male wearing a yellow wig in a parking lot around noon on April 24. Responding officers made contact with the individual, and arrested a 27-year-old male from Maple Lake on suspicion of second-degree DWI and test refusal. The addresses involved were on the 500 block of Willow Drive and the 2400 block of Industrial Boulevard—both in Long Lake.

Police cited a 37-year-old Wayzata man for unnecessary noise just before 5 a.m. April 24 after neighbors reported the individual refused to quiet down after multiple requests. The citation was issued on the 600 block of Wayzata Boulevard East.
