Wayzata P.D. Blotter: Mailbox Bombs, Domestic Assault and DWI

The following is a selection of notable incidents responded to by the Wayzata Police Department between Jan. 16 and Jan. 21. Not intended to be a comprehensive log of activity.

A mailbox was destroyed on the 16000 block of Holdridge Road Jan. 21 by what is described as a "McGyver-tybe bomb." Juvenile suspects have been identified, and the incident is under investigation. A similar incident occurred Jan. 19 on the same block.

A burglary was reported of an eye clinic on the 1100 block of Wayzata Boulevard East Jan. 21. Loss is estimated at $7,400 worth of eyeglass frames.

A 44-year-old male from Long Lake was arrested just after 6 a.m. Jan. 18 for domestic assault after an altercation with his wife. The arrest occurred on the 300 block of Lakeview Avenue.

An individual causing issues with an alleged past order was trespassed from a business on the 1300 block of Wayzata Boulevard East around 1 p.m. Jan. 17. The party had been in Mound earlier the same day at a gas station causing a disturbance with employees and was trespassed from that location as well. The individual is described as having been aggressive and demanding money back. he started going into the kitchen area and gave police different accounts of what happened. Police believe the individual had tried the same scam before at local businesses.

A 48-year-old male from Wayzata was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Jan. 16 for domestic assault after an altercation with his wife. The arrest occurred on the 1000 block of Circle Drive East.

A 1997 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from the Auto Center Bargain lot on Wayzata Boulevard East sometime between Jan. 1 and Jan. 8. Loss is estimated at $4,000.
