Blotter: Sunsets Burglarized, Underage Drinking and DWI Arrests

Below is a selection of notable incidents responded to by the Wayzata Police Departmentbetween May 22 and May 27. Not intended to be a comprehensive log of activity.

May 27

Six citations were issued to individuals between the ages of 18 and 20 for underage consumption of alcohol after police were called to an address on the 200 block of Grove Lane. The incident took place just before 1 a.m.

A 23-year-old male from Chanhassan was arrested on suspicion of third-degree DWI and for second-degree test refusal following a 10:45 p.m. traffic stop near the intersection of Central Avenue and Wayzata Boulevard East. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle swerving from side to side and driving the wrong way.

A 22-year-old female from Stacy, MN, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree DWI following a traffic stop 16000 block of Hwy. 12 East. The arrest ocurred just after 6 p.m.

May 26

A child's chair in the shape of a plastic dog was reported stolen just after 1 p.m. from in front of a business on the 1300 block of Wayzata Boulevard East. Loss is estimated at $275.

May 25

A 20-year-old male from Dickenson, ND, was arrested just before midnight following a traffic stop near the intersection of Gleason Lake Road and Wayzata Boulevard East. He faces charges of fourth-degree DWI, underage consumption of alcohol, making an unsafe U-turn and driving under the age of 21 after consuming alcohol. 

The attempted theft of a television from an apartment complex community room was reported to police just before 4 a.m. The incident occurred on the 100 block of Gleason Lake Road.

May 24

Theft of a license plate was reported on the 1300 block of Wayzata Boulevard East.

Graffiti on a dumpster located on the 1400 block of Wayzata Boulevard East was reported at 12:30 a.m. Damage is estimated at less than $500.

May 23

Sunsets Restaurant on Lake Street was forcibly entered and the Fast Cash machine was stolen. Loss and damages are undetermined. The incident was reported to police at 6:30 a.m.

May 22

Car windows smashed on the 300 block of Wayzata Boulevard East while owners watching ball game in the park. A brief case, wallet and bank cards were reported stolen. The bank card used shortly after theft took place. Investigation is ongoing.
