The home's owner died earlier this year, and the property has been unoccupied since. Jim Frederickson is the estate executor and said he was in Mound when he received a call that the home was on fire.

The house had, Frederickson said, been f0r sale.

"An offer was in the mail and on its way," he said.

Emergency dispatchers received the first reports of heavy smoke coming from the back of home at about 9 a.m. The Wayzata Fire Department was on the scene within minutes and was soon joined by departments from Long Lake, Plymouth and Minnetonka.
