Motorists in South Lake Minnetonka Report Damage from Thrown Objects

Below is a selection of notable incidents reported between Oct. 19 and Oct. 25. The information comes from the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department.

October 19

A 19-year-old Shorewood man was arrested on Water Street in Excelsior for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was also cited for a window tint violation.

A 16-year-old Minnetonka male was cited for a provisional license violation at Hw.y 7 and Eureka Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for suspected impaired driving. The vehicle was unable to maintain its speed, made illegal lane changes, and almost struck another vehicle.

A 47-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for driving with a revoked license at Morse Avenue and Third Street in Excelsior after a traffic stop for an inoperative rear license plate light.

October 21

A 28-year-old Excelsior man was arrested for DWI at Hwy. 7 and Old Market Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Test Results are pending.

After a traffic stop on Hwy. 7 and Hwy. 41 in Shorewood for driving without lights, a 16-year-old Minnetonka man was arrested for possession of marijuana.

A 46-year-old man was arrested for DWI at Broms Boulevard and Vine Hill Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for a weaving and a stop sign violation. Test results are pending.

October 22

A 29-year-old Burnsville man was arrested at Hwy. 7 and Old Market Road in Shorewood for possession of a switch blade knife. The 23-year-old female passenger was arrested for possession of methamphetamine.

October 23

Officers observed a vehicle driving around the western residential area of Shorewood three different times. Due to recent thefts, they made a traffic stop. The 18-year-old Chanhassen man was arrested for possession of marijuana on Manitou Road in Tonka Bay.

October 24

On Mill Street in Excelsior, a male, who was standing outside a parked vehicle in St. John’s parking lot, flagged down an officer. The man said that he was driving on Mill Street when his vehicle was struck by something, and he showed the officer apple pieces that had gone through his open passenger window. When officers began checking the area, another motorist flagged them down and reported the same activity. Officers located two males in the woods clothed in all black. An 18-year-old Excelsior man was arrested for disorderly conduct and possession of marijuana. A 19-year-old Excelsior man was arrested for disorderly conduct. The case was forwarded to the city attorney for formal complaint.

An employee of Curves, on Highway 7 in Shorewood, reported that three women entered the store to inquire about membership at Curves. While the employee showed the women around the facility, one of the women went to the front entrance stating that she had to take a phone call. When the woman returned to the group, she said that she had a sick child, so they needed to leave. After they left, the Curves employee discovered credit cards and cash missing from her purse. It is a loss of $130.

A Greenwood complainant reported hearing a “pop” come from the rear window of the vehicle while traveling west on Excelsior Boulevard from St. Albans Bay Road in Shorewood. The rear window was shattered by a small object, possibly a “BB.” It is a loss of $750.
