Sinking Boat on Crystal Bay Turns Out to be a False Alarm

Firefighters say they reached the scene within minutes but found no emergency.

Wednesday afternoon reports of a sinking watercraft on Lake Minnetonka's Crystal Bay turned out to be a false alarm, according to the Long Lake Fire Department.

Emergency dispatchers received a call about 4 p.m. Wednesday stating there was a vessel in distress and people in the water.

A water rescue unit was dispatched and launched within minutes but found nothing when it reached the scene. Boaters in the area did report seeing people in the water and told firefighters they were pulled from the bay by a watercraft apparently piloted by someone they knew.
