Shorewood Man Charged with Possession of Illegal Steroids
Police say they found six vials of illegal anabolic steroids when they executed a search warrant at Nathan Edward Garrett's house.
A Shorewood man has been charged with illegally possessing anabolic steroids.
Nathan Edward Garrett, 30, is charged with two counts of felony fifth-degree drug possession, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
South Lake Minnetonka police executed a search warrant at Garrett’s house in the 20500 block of Manor Road on Jan. 2, according to the criminal complaint, signed by South Lake Minnetonka Police Detective Christina Olson.

In Garrett’s bedroom, officers found three vials of nandrolone decanoate and three vials of testosterone cypionate, along with a number of hypodermic needles and a box of alcohol swabs, according to the complaint.
Nandrolone decanoate is one of the steroids that major league baseball players Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens were accused of using. A number of other professional athletes have been accused of using the substance.

Garrett’s criminal history includes convictions for fifth-degree assault in 2003 and 2004, disorderly conduct in 2007 and abusive or obscene disorderly conduct in 2011. He was convicted of DWI in 2006, 2009 and 2011.
Garrett has been released from custody on a $3,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled Feb. 28 in Hennepin County District Court.
