Orono P.D. Blotter: Death Investigations, Predatory Offenders and DWI

Below are a selection of notable incidents responded to by the Orono Police Department between Feb. 5 and Feb. 11. Not intended to be a comprehensive log of activity.

Feb. 5

A motor vehicle accident occurring just after 6:30 a.m. on the 3800 block of Hwy. 12 resulted in unspecified property damage.

Officers responded to a suicide threat on the 400 block of Shoreline Drive around 9:30 a.m.

A motor vehicle accident on the 1000 block of Homestead Trail resulted in unspecified property damage around 9:30 a.m.

Theft of property was reported on the 2100 block of Commerce Boulevard around 11:15 a.m. No further information is available.

A harassment complaint was made by a resident on the 700 block of Old Crystal Bay Road. Officers responded at 2 p.m.

A domestic disturbance was reported on the 5000 block of Three Points Boulevard around 7:30 p.m. No arrests were made.

A 42-year-old Mound man was arrested for DWI near the intersection of Shoreline Drive and Spates Avenue. The arrest occurred just after 10 p.m.

Feb. 6

A fight was reported on the 1000 block of Arbor Street just after 1 a.m. No arrests were made.

Theft from a building on the 2400 block of Commerce Boulevard was reported around 10 a.m. Value of the loss is estimated at less than $500, and the case remains under investigation.

A motor vehicle accident resulting in property damage occurred on the 2300 block of Commerce Boulevard around 10 a.m.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on the 4300 block of Wilshire Boulevard just after 12 p.m.

Suspicious activity was reported on the 4500 block of Montgomery Road just after 3 p.m.

A death investigation was conducted on the 4000 block of Tonkaview Lane around 6 p.m. No additional information is available.

Officers responded to a fire alarm on the 1000 block of Commerce Boulevard just after 8 p.m.

Feb. 7

A vehicle fire was reported near the intersection of Hwy. 12 and County Road 6 at 7:30 a.m.

Suspicious activity was reported around 11:30 a.m. on the 2500 block of Shadywood Road.

Police responded to a fire alarm on the 400 block of West Branch Road just before 1:30 a.m.

Dispatchers received a report of a sick or injured animal on the 5000 block of Grandview Boulevard around 6 p.m.

Information about a possible identity theft/credit card fraud was received by officers from a resident on the 3000 block of Lyric Avenue.

Feb. 8

Suspicious activity was reported around 1:30 p.m. on the 3000 block of Island View Drive.

Theft by check of items valued at less than $500 was reported on the 2200 block of Commerce Boulevard just after 3 p.m. 

Feb. 9

A 30-year-old male from Moorhead was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on Hunt Farm Road for DWI.

Police responded to a domestic disturbance call on the 2200 block of Belmont Lane just before 1 a.m. No arrests were reported.

Officers responded to a suicide death on Lynwood Boulevard just before 11 a.m.

An accident resulting in property damage was reported on the the 2400 block of Shadywood Road around 11 a.m. No injuries were documented.

Theft of items from a yard on the 2100 block of Weber Hills Road was reported around 3:15 p.m. Estimated loss is less than $500.

Suspicious activity was reported on the 2000 block of Sugarwood Drive around 11 p.m.

A death investigation was requested on the 4000 block of Brighton Boulevard around 11 p.m.

A 42-year-old male from Maple Grove was arrested just after 10 a.m. near the intersection of North Shore Drive and Shoreline for DWI. Breathalyzer results indicated an BAC of .21.

Unspecified injuries were reported following a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Hwy. 12 and Wayzata Boulevard. The accident occurred around 10 a.m. No additional information is available.

An accident resulting in property damage was reported on the 2500 block of Shoreline Drive around 2 p.m.

A gas drive off was reported on the 5000 block of Shoreline Drive around 4:45 p.m. Estimated loss is unavailable.

Feb. 10

Suspicious activity was reported near the intersection of Long Lake Road and Spring Hill around 9:30 p.m.

Feb. 11

A predatory offender notification was recorded at an unknown address. No other information is available. A second predatory offender notification, also at an unknown address, also took place Feb. 10. Additional details have been requested from the Orono Police Department.

A predatory offender notification was recorded on the 2700 block of Kelley Parkway.

Theft of items from a vehicle, valued at less than $500, was reported on the 2000 block of 6th Avenue North.

Suspicious activity was reported on the 2000 block of Webber Hills Road just after 9:30 a.m.

Officers responded to what is described as a medical overdose on the 2000 block of Shannon Lane just before 5 p.m.
