Notable Crime Remains Low in Wayzata During April

Police reports highlighted by DWI arrests, shoplifting and gas drive offs.

Police say a license plate stolen from the parking lot of a Wayzata apartment complex on April 26 was later used in a gas drive off in Plymouth. The license plate was reported stolen April 26 from the 100 block of Gleason Lake Road.

A 30-year-old female from Plymouth was arrested April 25 for shoplifting approximately $150 worth of merchandise from the Lund’s Pharmacy on Wayzata Boulevard East. The arrest occurred around 7:15 p.m.

Two gas drive offs resulting in losses of $58 and $85, respectively, were reported at the Holiday Station on the 1300 block of Hwy. 12 April 18 and 19. No other information is available.

A commercial burglary was reported just after 8 a.m. April 10 on the 500 block of Brimhall Avenue in Long Lake. Police report an attempted theft of vehicle parts and other hardware but say no loss was incurred. A license plate was reported stolen from the same location three days later.

Police arrested a 27-year-old man from Delano on suspicion of second-degree DWI following an April 7 traffic stop on the 1900 block of Hwy. 12. Field tests indicated the suspect’s blood alcohol content was .20. The driver was also cited for improper lane use, and the man’s vehicle is subject to forfeiture.

Police stopped an unidentified driver on suspicion of DWI just after 5:30 p.m. April 5 near the intersection of Orchard Lane and Brown Road North in Long Lake. Field tests indicated the driver’s blood alcohol content was .06. They were issued a citation for careless driving and not arrested.

Scrap aluminum valued at approximately $2,300 was taken from a business on the 500 block of Brimhall Avenue in Long Lake on April 3. The theft was reported shortly before 7 p.m., and the case remains under investigation.

A residential burglary was reported shortly after 6 p.m. April 2 on the 1000 block of Holdridge Terrace. Tools and electronics were reported missing. The case remains under investigation.

Police responded to a gas drive off at the Holiday Station just before 1 p.m. on April 2. Loss was estimated at $63, and police say the driver was using a stolen license plate.

A 43-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested April 1 near the intersection of Hwy. 12 and Carlson Parkway on suspicion of third-degree DWI. Field tests indicated the man’s blood alcohol content was .08. The arrest occurred just after 10:30 p.m.
