Minnetonka Woman Drives into Lone Lake

Witnesses said they saw the woman accelerating toward a tree before her SUV went into the water.

Hennepin County deputies andMinnetonka police are investigating an incident in which a vehicle went into Lone Lake in Minnetonka, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.

Witnesses told deputies at 2:40 p.m. that they saw a woman driving an SUV and accelerating across the parking lot toward a large tree. The SUV missed the tree and went in the lake in a few feet of water so that the water covered the vehicle’s tires.

Minnetonka police, Minnetonka Fire Department and the Sheriff’s Office responded.

The woman in the vehicle was found to be a Minnetonka resident. She was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
