Medical Examiner IDs Man Killed in Mound Accident

Mark Allen was a longtime resident of the Wayzata area

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner has identified the man who died last week at a trash-processing facility in .

Mark Allen, 61 of Wayzata, died of mechanical asphyxiation, according to a report made public Monday afternoon. The death has been ruled accidental.

Emergency responders were called to Blackowiak Roll off and Collection Services on Sunnyfield Road just after 8 a.m. last Wednesday. Acting Minnetrista Police Chief Paul Fields said arriving police officers found Allen unconscious and pinned in a hydraulic arm on the side of a garbage truck.

Allen was a longtime resident of and a graduate of . He was employed for many years by Blackowiak Roll Off and Collection Services and his trash collection route covered a large swath of the northern Lake Minnetonka area.
