Lake Minnetonka Crime Notes: Meth, Mailbox 'Coning' and DUI Arrests

Notable incidents responded to by Lake Minnetonka area police in the last two weeks.

A 28-year-old Shorewood man was charged with felony drug possession after police found a bag containing .2 grams of methamphetamine. Officers were at the man's residence on Grant Lorenz Road serving an arrest warrant Feb. 9, and a search found the drugs inside a pants pocket.

Orono police arrested a 42-year-old man Jan. 30 for violating an order for protection filed in conjunction with a domestic abuse complaint. The arrest occurred around 10:45 p.m. on Lyric Avenue.

A mailbox on the 400 block of Highcroft Road in Wayzata was damaged Feb. 9 after traffic cones were thrown at it. Police say this "coning" trend is currently popular among juveniles attending Wayzata High School.

Orono police arrested a 51-year-old Mound man Jan. 31 on Glyn Elyn Road and arrested him on an assault charge for causing fear/immediate bodily harm. The arrest occurred just after 10:30 p.m.

The Lakeshore Weekly News reported in this week's edition of the paper that police made three DUI arrests following Saturday's Chilly Open golf tournament on Lake Minnetonka.
