Felony Charges Filed Against Home Health Aide for Hydromorphone Theft

The thefts occurred at the Long Lake Assisted Living Center and involved the controlled substance Hydromorphone.

The following information was posted Wednesday afternoon on the Wayzata Police Department's Facebook page:

A 22-year-old Delano woman, working as a home health aid, was charged today with theft of a controlled substance. The thefts occurred at the Long Lake Assisted Living Center.

The woman admitted to taking narcotics from patients over a period of time.

The theft involved Hydromorphone, a Schedule II controlled substance, which is a felony.

Police arrested the woman, identified in court documents as Rebecca Swanger, Feb. 4 at the assisted living facility on Brown Road after being called by site's administrators.

Staff reported to officers that Swanger had admitted to taking several residents' prescription medication over a period of time.

A search conducted at the Wayzata Police Station found two Hydromorphone pills in concealed Swanger's bra. She has been charged with a pair of felony counts: theft of a controlled substance and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance.
