TONIGHT: Excelsior Fire District Hosts Open House

The free event will include displays, activities, demonstrations, food and fire truck rides.

The Excelsior Fire District will host a fire prevention open house and safety fair today from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event will feature fire and life safety activities, exhibits and demonstrations.

This free event for children of all ages and adults will include dinner and onsite parking. Local emergency response agencies will have educational booths, games and hands-on activities. Participants will include the National Weather Service, Missing Children Minnesota, Hennepin County Regional Poison Center, 9-1-1 Dispatch and The Minnesota DNR.

Educational demonstrations will include grease fires, residential fire sprinklers and a live burn. Sparky the fire dog, who turns 60 years old this year, will also be present.
