Deephaven P.D. Blotter: DWI, Gazebo Fire and Roadkill

The below are a selection of notable incidents responded to by the Deephaven Police Department between Oct. 26 and Oct.31. Not intended to be a comprehensive log of activity.

Oct. 26

A motor vehicle stop near the intersection of Minnetonka Boulevard and Shavers Lake Road led to the arrest of a man of unknown age for DWI and the possession of a small amount of marijuana. The arrest took place just before 8:15 p.m.

Oct. 27

A vehicle was stopped just after 9:30 p.m. after officers observed poor driving conduct and an equipment violation. The driver, a 62-year-old male from Deephaven, was eventually arrested for DWI after blood alcohol tests resulted in a reading of .13.

A very large racoon was found dead in the road near the intersection of Minnetonka Boulevard and Circle Drive. Police moved the animal out of the path of traffic.

A 27-year-old Shorewood woman was arrested for DWI just before 3 a.m. near the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Vine Hill Drive. The woman's blood alcohol level field tested at .13.

Oct. 28

Police responded to a gazebo fire in the backyard of a home on the 19000 block of Rutledge Road. The fire was extinguished.

Oct. 29

A resident on the 3400 block of Montgomerie Avenue called police to report a window by her front door had been broken. Value of the window is estimated at $15.

Oct. 30

An individual working on the side of the road was spotted by police just before 3:30 p.m. Officers knew the individual had two outstanding warrants, and the subject was arrested. 

A vehicle lost battery power on the hill crest near Minnetonka Boulevard and Circle Drive. Police had the driver coast to the bottom of the hill and off the roadway. A parent arrived, drove the kids to school and returned to tow the vehicle.

Oct. 31

While on patrol around 11:30 p.m. an officer passed by a new house under construction on the 19000 block of Cottagewood Road and noticed several lights on inside and the garage door open. The officer checked the premises and found nothing out of place. The officer secured the building and left a business card advising of the situation.

An officer picked up nuisance signs in the right of way on the 20000 block of Cottagewood drive.
