Blotter: Jewelry Theft, Damaged Mailboxes and Return of the Stolen Canoe

Editor's note: Below is a selection of notable incidents reported between Nov. 9 and Nov. 30. Not intended to be a comprehensive log of activity.

November 30

A 19-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for a limited license violation at  in Shorewood.

4900 block of Lagoon Drive: A Shorewood resident reported that there has been an ongoing problem with mailboxes and newspaper tubes being damaged in the neighborhood. He also reported that a city owned pole holding the “Lagoon Drive” street sign had been knocked down again. Estimated loss was $25.

November 29

An Excelsior woman reported that a wedding ring had been stolen from her vehicle. Estimated loss was $2,500.

Sheetrock benches and aluminum extension legs were stolen from a garage in Shorewood. The estimated loss was $680.

A 29-year-old Minnetonka woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license on Highway 7 and Christmas Lake Road in Greenwood after a traffic stop for speeding. 

November 28

A Waconia man reported that someone tried to open a checking account at  in Excelsior using his social security number.

A 27-year-old Shorewood man was arrested on warrants.

November 26

A 32-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license on Minnetonka Drive and Yellowstone Drive in Shorewood after a traffic stop for an equipment violation.

A 22-year-old Minnetonka man was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. The arrest occurred on Vine Hill and Broms Boulevard in Shorewood after a traffic stop for speeding. 

November 25

A 41-year-old Minnetonka man was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license and he was cited for not having insurance. The arrest occurred on Lake Linden Drive and Yellowstone Trail in Shorewood after a routine computer check.

An Excelsior resident reported that a jewelry box was stolen from his apartment. The storm window was partially open and the screen to the ground level bedroom window had been cut to gain entry. Estimated loss was $5,435.

A 35-year-old Ramsey man was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license on Highway 7 and County Road 19 in Excelsior after an officer observed his vehicle drifting into oncoming traffic.

A 26-year-old St. Louis Park man was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license on Water Street and County Road 19 in Excelsior after a traffic stop for driving through a red light. 

November 24

A 34-year-old St. Louis Park woman was arrested for DWI on Highway 7 and Vine Hill Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle. Test results are pending.

A 22-year-old Chanhassen woman was arrested for driving with a revoked license on Mill Street and Wheeler Drive in Excelsior after a traffic stop for an equipment violation. 

November 22

A 32-year-old St. Paul man was arrested for driving without insurance on Smithtown Road and Eureka Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for speeding.

Someone stole a wallet from an unlocked car parked in the driveway of a Shorewood residence. Estimated loss is $200.

A Shorewood resident was cited for barking dogs.

A 51-year-old Chanhassen woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license on Third Street and Water Street in Excelsior after a routine computer check.

November 20

A 34-year-old Excelsior woman was arrested for driving with a revoked license on Highway 7 and Eureka Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for an equipment violation.

November 19

A 28-year-old Excelsior woman and an 18-year-old Excelsior man were arrested for domestic assault.

A 27-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for driving with a revoked license on Second Street and Excelsior Boulevard in Excelsior after an accident.

There was a two vehicle accident on County Road 19 and Glen Road in Tonka Bay. One driver was cited for inattentive driving.

There was an accident on Birch Bluff Road and County Road 19 in Tonka Bay. No charges. 

November 18

A 20-year-old Victoria man was arrested for driving with a revoked license on Highway 7 and Highway 41 in Shorewood after a routine computer check.

November 17

A ring was stolen from a residence in Shorewood. Estimated loss is $2,000.

A 25-year-old Minnetonka woman was arrested for DWI on Highway 7 and Old Market Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for an inoperative rear license plate light. Test results are pending.

November 16

Tonka Auto in Shorewood reported a bad check in the amount of $334.85.

A bike was found on Lake Street in Excelsior.

A 34-year-old Rochester woman was arrested for DWI on Water Street and Second Street in Excelsior after a routine computer check. Test results are pending.

November 15

A 21-year-old Chanhassen man was arrested for DWI on Highway 7 and Vine Hill Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for speeding. Test results are pending.

A 23-year-old Minnetonka man was found  with two juvenile females while parked in a closed business parking lot located on County Road 19 in Tonka Bay. He was arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a child and depriving another of parental rights.

November 14

A 22-year-old Plymouth woman was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license and a 21-year-old Crystal man was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest occurred on Highway 7 and Highway 41 in Shorewood after a routine computer check.

A Shorewood man reported that he did not receive the amount of firewood that he paid for. The loss was estimated at $90.

Two hours later, a Greenwood man reported that he did not receive the amount of firewood that he paid for. The loss was estimated at $90.

A 21-year-old Minnetonka woman was arrested in Excelsior for domestic assault.

Cub Foods reported possible shoplifters.

A 17-year-old Chanhassen woman was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and a 16-year-old Chaska man was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrest occurred on Vine Hill Road near Mountain Boulevard in Shorewood after a traffic stop for an object suspended from the rear view mirror.

November 13

A 23-year-old Eden Prairie woman was arrested for DWI on Highway 7 and Chaska Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for making an illegal U-turn. Test results are pending.

A Shorewood complainant reported that a canoe had been stolen from their boat house. The loss was estimated at $300. Later the complainant called back to report that the canoe had been returned and the suspects had fled.

A Shorewood complainant reported receiving suspicious cell phone calls.

November 11

A Chanhassen man reported that while he was at Maynard’s Restaurant in Excelsior someone stole his coat, which he had put over a chair at the table where he was sitting. A cell phone and vehicle keys were inside the coat. Estimated loss was $300.

Xcel Energy, located on County Road 19 in Shorewood, reported that someone had entered the yard by cutting a hole in the fence. The damage was estimated at $75.

A Shorewood Cub Foods employee reported that her purse had been stolen from her unlocked locker in the break room. Later she called and said that her purse had been found in another locker.

A 24-year-old Chanhassen man was arrested in Shorewood on outstanding warrants.

November 10

A 26-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia on Highway 7 and Eureka Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for not having a front license plate.

A 33-year-old Belle Plaine man was arrested in Excelsior for domestic assault/strangulation.

November 9

A 40-year-old Brooklyn Park woman was arrested on Highway 7 and Old Market Road in Shorewood for driving without a driver’s license and speeding.
