Blotter: Jewelry Theft and Property Damage

A selection of notable incidents between Dec. 1 and Dec. 15.

Below is a selection of notable incidents reported between Dec. 1 and Dec. 15. The information comes from the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department and is not intended to be a comprehensive log of activity.

December 15

A 29-year-old Watertown man was arrested for DWI on Second Street and Water Street in Excelsior after a traffic stop for an equipment violation and failure to come to a complete stop at a stop sign. Test results are pending.

December 14

A 23-year-old Minnetonka man was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Hwy. 7 and Old Market Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for a loud muffler violation.

A 26-year-old Eden Prairie man was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia at County Road 19 and Woodpecker Ridge Road in Tonka Bay.

December 13

A 24-year-old Minneapolis woman was arrested on Hwy. 7 and County Road 19 for fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance. A 23-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for giving a false name and date of birth to police, possession of drug paraphernalia and outstanding warrants.

December 12

A Greenwood resident reported identity theft.

Vehicle cited for parking in a handicapped parking area on Third Avenue in Excelsior.

A 36-year-old Mound woman was arrested for not having a Minnesota driver’s license on County Road 19 and William Street in Excelsior after a traffic stop of speeding.

December 11

A 21-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for driving with a suspended driver’s license on County Road 19 and Smithtown Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for a suspended object hanging from the rear view mirror.

A 28-year-old Hutchinson man was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia on Broms Boulevard and Old Market Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for expired registration.

December 10

A portable restroom at Freeman Park was found tipped over.

A Shorewood resident reported that someone egged their house located on Sweetwater Circle. It is  not known if any of the damage was permanent.

December 9

A 38-year-old Excelsior man was arrested for driving with a revoked driver’s license and cited for not wearing a seat belt and child safety seat violation. The arrest occurred on Mill Street and Wheeler Drive in Excelsior.

A Shorewood resident of Birch Bluff Road reported property damage from a vehicle. An officer observed tire tracks that had taken down lilac bushes. Plastic wheel trim from a vehicle was also found at the scene. The cost of the damage was unknown.

December 7

A Shorewood resident reported that between Dec. 5 and Dec. 6, someone stole a cell phone from an unlocked work truck parked in their driveway.

A Shorewood resident reported that jewelry had been stolen from her residence on Murray Street. The estimated loss was $4,500.

December 6

A 40-year-old Deephaven man was arrested for giving false information to a police officer, driving with a revoked driver’s license and careless driving. The arrest occurred on Hwy. 7 and Woodland Road in Minnetonka after a traffic stop for speeding.

Metro Petro in Excelsior reported damage to its car wash equipment. The cost of damage was unknown.

A Shorewood resident reported receiving a letter from a collection agency on an account they never authorized. The amount was $3,386.48. No loss to the complainant.

December 5

A Deephaven police officer found a vehicle parked in the middle of the intersection on Hwy. 7 and Vine Hill Road. The vehicle had heavy front end damage to its left side. A 21-year-old New Prague man was arrested for DWI. Test Results are pending.

Mount Calvary Church in Excelsior reported that someone had broken a lock to the money box in the hallway of the church. It was not known how much money was lost.

A Shorewood complainant reported that she believed that in December 2010 someone stole a diamond necklace and earrings from her. She has looked for the missing jewelry, and cannot find them. The value of the jewelry is $10,000.

December 4

A Shorewood complainant reported that someone shot three green paintballs at a flower pot and wooden fence outside their home. There was no permanent damage.

December 3

An officer was attempting to catch up to a vehicle for speeding when the driver lost control and crashed into a wall. The suspect fled on foot, but was apprehended. A 22-year-old St. Paul man was arrested for DWI on Hwy. 7 and Eureka Road in Shorewood. Test results are pending.

A 41-year-old St. Louis Park woman was arrested for DWI on Third Street and Morse Avenue in Excelsior after a traffic stop for failing to signal a turn. Test results are pending.

Officers responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle hitting a sign on the side of the road and driving away. Officers found the vehicle on Harding Lane in Shorewood. A 49-year-old man was arrested for DWI. Test results are pending.

December 2

A 31-year-old Chaska man was arrested for DWI on County Road 19 and Birch Bluff Road in Shorewood after a traffic stop for erratic driving. Test results are pending.

December 1

A 57-year-old Excelsior man was arrested for DWI on Second Street and School Avenue in Excelsior after a traffic stop for an equipment violation. Test results are pending.

The BP Gas Station in Excelsior reported that someone left without paying for the $30.01 cost of gas.

A Tonka Bay complainant reported identity theft.
