Deephaven PD Cites Overweight Truck, Cuffs Drunk Drivers

A selection of notable incidents responded to by the Deephaven Police Department between Nov. 1 and Nov. 30.

Police cited the driver of a tractor-trailer at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, after receiving complaints it was overweight. The truck was weighed and found to be over registered weight by 4,200 pounds and over tandem axle weight by more than 26,000 pounds. The traffic stop took place on the 19000 block of Cottagewood Drive.

Officers were dispatched to a house fire on the afternoon of Nov. 29. Flames escaped the home’s fireplace and spread into the walls. Damage is unknown. The incident took place on the 19000 block of Excelsior Boulevard.

A laptop was reported stolen Nov. 28 from a home on Northome Road.

Suspected burglars attempted to enter a business on the 18000 block of Minnetonka Boulevard sometime between Nov. 27 and 28. Damage was reported to the door, but entrance to the building was not gained, according to police.

A late-night traffic stop near the intersection of Minnetonka Boulevard and Cottagewood Road on Nov. 26 resulted in a driver being cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and no license in possession.

Two individuals were cited Nov. 25 for possession of alcohol by persons under the age of 21, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia following an 11 p.m. traffic stop near the intersection of Northome Drive and Deephaven Avenue. The driver was additionally cited for a traffic violation, and the passenger was cited for possession of tobacco products.

A 78-year-old woman from St. Louis Park was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree DWI after a traffic stop on the evening of Nov. 24 at the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Vine Hill Road.

Police impounded a vehicle after its driver was found to be operating it with impounded plates and a revoked license. The incident occurred just after 10 a.m. on Nov. 16 24 at the intersection of Hwy. 7 and Vine Hill Road.

A 27-year-old Minnetonka man was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree DWI and possession of drug paraphernalia following an early-morning traffic stop on Nov. 15. The arrest took place on the 19000 block of Hwy. 7. Test results are pending.

A vehicle was impounded after police found its plates revoked and its driver operating it with a revoked license and no insurance. The incident occurred just after 3:15 p.m. on Nov. 11.

A traffic stop on the morning of Nov. 5 resulted in a driver being cited for possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle. The driver was pulled over at the intersection of Minnetonka Boulevard and Dale Avenue.
