Excelsior Mayor Backs Mark Gaylord as Successor

Nick Ruehl will not seek a third term as mayor of Excelsior.

To the editor:

I have had the privilege to serve as mayor of over the past eight years, and I am excited to recommend Mark Gaylord as the next Mayor to lead our city.

I asked Mark to consider running for mayor a few months ago, as over the past three years, he has demonstrated excellent leadership to the Planning Commission as its chairperson. Excelsior is achieving its vision as a South Lake Minnetonka destination, both residentially and commercially, and Mark is level-headed and well-suited to continue building that vision by “balancing respect of the past with the opportunities of the future.”

Keeping Excelsior relevant into the future is paramount, and Mark is up to leading that charge.

In addition to his planning and leadership skills, Mark understands process and numbers. He owns and leads a computer software business, so I am confident he will quickly understand city finance and, with our experienced council, maintain the city’s financial stability.

Mark and his family have lived in Excelsior for 10 years, and he has a deep sense of service that comes from caring about Excelsior as well as the greater South Lake Community. Mark can be trusted to act in our best interest.

Please join me in supporting Mark Gaylord for Mayor of Excelsior.
