Popular Orono Woman Dies at 50

Orono resident Kim Ylitalo died unexpectedly over the weekend at the age of 50. She was the mother of four children, including a current a freshman at Orono High School.
Ylitalo and her husband, Dan, operated an insurance agency in the Minneapolis area, and she was an active member of the Orono school and civic community. Ylitalo was an Orono Alliance for Education volunteer and could regularly be found cheering on her children and their sports teams from the bleachers.
“Kim was a wonderful woman, who gave so much of herself and would do anything for anyone,” one friend said Tuesday morning. “I will forever envision her yelling 'Go Kate' at basketball and wearing her 'fancy' fur coat.”
Kim (Storm) Ylitalo was raised in Michigan and attended Northern Michigan University.Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 29, at 11 a.m. at First Apostolic Lutheran Church, 2300 Cox Trail, Medina. Visitation Tuesday 4-9 p.m. at the church and one hour before the funeral on Wednesday at the church.
Memorials preferred to Minneapolis Heart Institute.
