Obituary: Steven "Tippy" Dye

The memorial service will be held Mar. 8 in Wayzata.

Steven “Tippy” Dye died peacefully February 22, 2012 with his beloved Patti by his side. 

Steven was born February 11, 1945 in Minneapolis. He graduated from Wayzata High School in 1963 and attended Mankato State College for a couple years. He retired from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s office in 1998 after 29 years of service.

Steven and Patti were married 42 years and felt so fortunate to have traveled the world seeing God’s beauty in landscapes and the people of different cultures. Steven had a strong faith in the Lord and is now with his parents in heaven.

Steven battled many forms of cancer for many years, beginning at age 16. He faced that burden with great dignity and courage. The family wishes to thank Steven’s doctors, Carl Smith and Doug Raush of HCMC, as well as doctors Peter Eckman and David Rothenberger at the U of M Medical Center, for their outstanding care of Steven.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents Evelyn and Donald Dye. He was survived by his loving wife, Patricia (nee Casserly) Dye;  brothers, Don (Mary) Dye, Chuck (Betty) Dye; sisters, Joannie (Bud) Pierce and Kathy (Bob) Clouse; and many wonderful nephews, nieces and countless friends, who were all so special to him.

The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 8 at Wayzata Evangelical Free Church, located at 705 County Road 101 in Plymouth. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment at Fairview Cemetery in Mound.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family will be used to purchase much needed air beds for the hospice house facility in Port Charlotte, Florida where the staff so lovingly cared for him.
