Obituary: Edwin Walter of Plymouth

Visitation scheduled for Wednesday in Wayzata.

Edwin Reed Walter, 76 of Plymouth, MN, and Guttenberg, IA, was called home to his Lord in heaven January 25, 2012. He was born June 21, 1925. 

After high school he joined the Navy in 1954 at Des Moines, IA and was stationed at Twenty Nine Palms, CA, during the Korean War. He also served in the Marines during this time. He is preceded in death by loving wife Audrey, infant son, Mark and parents, Edward and Dorothy Walter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Arta; children, Joseph (Suka), Sarah (Tim), Beth (Robert), Brian (Lynn), Craig (Kori), and Barth; sisters, Dorothy, Carol (George), Mary (Earl); aunt Ruth; step-children, Teresa (Robin), Edward (Jacquline), Mark (Megan); 21 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, Labors for Christ friends, missionary friends, and a Christian Congregation.

Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012 at Glory of Christ Lutheran Church, located at 4040 Hwy. 101 N. in Plymouth. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 E. Wayzata Blvd., Wayzata and one hour prior to the service at church.  

Additional service scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Guttenberg, IA, with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.

Interment will be at Ceres Cemetery in Garnaville, IA.  

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Glory of Christ Lutheran Church or to Confessional Lutheran Education Foundation (CLEF), the mission field that Eddie enjoyed so much with his pastors, P.O. Box 43844, Minneapolis, MN 55443-0844.
