Obituary: Candyce Elin Smith

She looked at her cancer as a speed bump that she would overcome and was always looking at how she could help others cope with their diagnosis.

Candyce Elin Smith of Dayton died peacefully at her childhood home on July 17 surrounded by her loving family. She was 56.

Born in Minnetonka and a graduate of Minnetonka High School and Gustavus Adolphus College, Candy will be remembered for her effervescent smile, unconditional love and the ability to always see the good in people. She looked at her cancer as a speed bump that she would overcome and was always looking at how she could help others cope with their diagnosis.

Even though her life has been cut short, she touched everyone she met with her zest for life and her attitude that her cup was not half full but "overflowith."

Candyce Elin Smith was preceded in death by her father, Donald K. Smith. She is survived by mother, Micki; brothers, Mark (Sherri) and Ben (Jeannine); nephews, Alex and Harry and nieces Bri, Madison and Montana.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 22, at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, located at 3121 Groveland School Road in Minnetonka. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at church.

Memorials preferred to Susan G Komen Foundation. Heartfelt thanks to Candy's many wonderful friends who enriched her final weeks.
