Kermit (Kerm) Stake: Historian, Steamboat Captain Dies at 87

Kermit's dedication and commitment to the Minnehaha over the years has been an integral part of her continued presence on Lake Minnetonka.

Kerm Stake, a familiar face on the Steamboat Minnehaha and local historian, died Thursday, July 25, at the age of 87.

It is with deep regret that the Museum of Lake Minnetonka announces the passing of Kermit Stake on Thursday, July 25. Kermit's dedication and commitment to the Minnehaha over the years has been an integral part of her continued presence on Lake Minnetonka. Please join us in offering our sincerest condolences to his family and friends during this sad time.

Both Maritime Heritage Minnesota staff worked with Kerm when he volunteered on the steamboat Minnehaha. Kerm was always there with a story and along with his late wife Audre, made our jobs much better. We give condolences to Kerm's family - he will be missed.
