55+: Enjoy lunch and community

Southshore Center has long struggled to be noticed on the radar of residents 55 and over. It's hidden in Badger Park, just off of County Road 19, Smithtown Road and Country Club Road in Shorewood (5735 Country Club Road). Once found, there are many ways to get involved!

  • Those with some free time can serve as a volunteer receptionist at the desk, welcoming guests and answering phones.
  • Those who love cards and games can join a group playing bridge, Mahjong, 500, or Bingo. Love a different game? Put together a group and we will host the spot for you!
  • Those who like quilting, or would love to learn, can enjoy a weekly quilting group.
  • Those who love to learn can take advantage of one of the many programs offered at the center.
  • Those who love to teach can share a special talent or present a program.
  • Those who need a little excercise will find affordable fitness programs.
  • Those with an appetite can enjoy lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays (often followed by a program). Cost is $5 for Southshore Senior Partners members/$7 for others, or buy a 9 meal punch card for $40. Meals include a main dish, sides, beverage and dessert--also available to go! RSVP by noon the day before. Menus are available at www.southshore-center.org.
This community of those 55 and over is always looking for residents to join the fun and expand the activities at the center. There is really no reason not to check it out! For a tour or more information, contact the center at 952.474.7635, or stop by between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm Monday-Friday, 5735 Country Club Road, Excelsior, 55331.
