Lets Not Forget "The Reason For the Season!"

The holiday season can be a time for reflecting on what YOU have and what OTHERS don't.

The "holiday season" is in full swing! Shopping, parties, holiday cards, holiday lights, and on and on...LOTS OF FUN STUFF!

For me...as much as I love all of the above AND encourage it...this time of year often brings a deep sense of reflection about "what really matters" or "what is most important?" It makes me think more about my faith, my family, my friends and my community. Actually, it makes me think about how lucky I am for the many blessings I have in my life.

On the other hand, many people are struggling this time of year. In fact, their struggles exist throughout the year. The holidays often magnify their issues. Many people in our community are lonely, sick, homeless, jobless and doing everything they can to survive. Watch out for those people in your midst...who could use a "pick me up"...especially during the holidays!

Ideas: support Interfiath Outreach, connect with Hammer, support other local charities, invite people who may be alone to your house for Christmas, visit a senior housing facility, deliver gifts to kids in the hospitial, settle a rift with friends or family, or just do something to improve the life of someone else!

The "reason for the season" should be something based in love for all of us to share with each other!
