2011
MN Teacher of Year, Katy Smith to Speak at Wayzata Community Church

Katy
Smith, 2011 winner of Minnesota’s “Teacher of the Year”, says the dramatic
changes in childhood over the past 40 years are stripping kids of basic brain

Katy
will be the guest speaker at Wayzata Community Church, February 21, 2014 at
6:00 PM as a guest of Wayzata Community Church Nursery School (WCCNS), and talk
about child rearing as it has changed over the years. Topics include: reading
routines and building structure and discipline in your child’s early learning
years.

“I
hope people will walk away inspired to take a look at the best parts of their
childhood and know that good stuff still works for kids today,” Smith said.
“All this reading, playing and talking prepares students and lays ground work
for all of the creative thinking they will need to do as an adult. This 21st
century global skill of creative thinking is wired in the first five to seven
years,” she added.
