Westonka Alum Selected for Collegiate All-Star Band

Casey Simonson played the euphonium in the All-Star Band. He is from Mound and is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Philip G. Simonson.

Casey Simonson, a senior chemistry-biology major at Ripon College, performed in the 10th Annual College All-Star Band of the National Band Association-Wisconsin Chapter (NBA-WC), on Friday, Jan.18, at the Lincoln High School Performing Arts Center in Wisconsin Rapids.

Simonson played the euphonium in the All-Star Band. He is from Mound and is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Philip G. Simonson.

Each year, the All-Star Band attracts more than 90 of the state's top college and university band students and conductors. Selection for the band is competitive and requires the successful submission of student and conductor applications.

This year's All-Star Band included students from 14 colleges and universities around Wisconsin. The band was conducted by Erik Janners, Marquette University; Kristin Tjornehoj, University of Wisconsin-River Falls; James Ripley, Carthage College; and Russell Pettitt, Lakeland College.

The annual event has proven to be an exciting showcase event for both students and conductors, with college and university conductors sharing the podium. The performance takes place during the convention of the NBA-WC.
