Wayzata Native Finds Her Voice in Milwaukee

Gold 'n Blues has grown into one of Marquette University's musical gems.

Laura Walsh, a sophomore public relations major from Wayzata, is a member of the Gold 'n Blues—Marquette University's only official co-ed student a capella group.

The Gold 'n Blues, which began with just nine male students and a keyboard in a residence hall basement, has developed into a 19-member group that has gained recognition on campus and throughout Milwaukee.

This year, the university's annual Christmas video and television commercial features the The Gold 'n Blues' rendition of "O Holy Night." The song, along with the group's recording of "Deck the Halls" and "What Child is This?" are available for download on iTunes and other online audio retailers. Proceeds from the songs will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee.

Additionally, for the past four years, the group has participated in events such as the "Best of the Midwest" a capella concert, and they've performed the National Anthem at a Milwaukee Bucks game. The Gold 'n Blues also arrange their own songs and are currently recording their second album.
