Wayzata High School Students Place in State Science Bowl Competition

Students compete in teams, answering questions in all branches of science and math, in a buzzer format like 'Jeopardy.'

Two teams from Wayzata High School placed third and fourth out of 32 teams in the state science bowl competition on Jan. 25 held at Macalester College.

Team 1 took third place and includes seniors Nirupa Galagedera and Clark Ye, juniors Jayant Chaudary and William Zeng and sophomore Nathan Stocking.

Team 2 took fourth place and includes sophomore Orien Zeng and freshmen Abhinav Bhaskar, Joseph Chen, Daniel Ibeling and Daniel Qu.

Students compete in teams, answering questions in all branches of science and math, in a buzzer format like  'Jeopardy.' Each team plays multiple games in a round robin tournament in the afternoon, with the top teams advancing to a double-elimination championship in the evening.

The winner gets an all-expense-paid trip to Nationals in Washington, D.C.
