Wayzata Chamber of Commerce Names Mark Scheidhauer 'Person of the Year'

The Chamber will be holding a luncheon in Scheidhauer's honor on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Wayzata Country Club.

Mark Scheidhauer has been named the 2012 Person of the Year by the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce.

The Person of the Year award is presented each year to a chamber member who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Considerations for the Person of the Year award include being a member of the Wayzata Chamber of Commerce, an active participant and supporter of Chamber events and a contributor to the economic, civic, commercial and educational interests of the Wayzata area. 

Scheidhauer is a native of Minnesota. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and has been in the banking industry for the last 33 years, 28 of which have been in Wayzata at Wells Fargo.

Mark resides with his wife, Mary, and their two dogs Bailey and Leo in Medina. Their claim to fame is the greenest yard on Medina Road and the brightest house during the holidays.

Scheidhauer is passionate about helping others. His contributions to Wayzata organizations are numerous and noteworthy. He has been an active Chamber member since 1984. Scheidhauer served on the board of directors from 1995-96, but his involvement does not stop there.

Mark has over 20 years experience organizing the James J. Hill Days parade set up, staging and tear down. As an annual "Chilly Open" hole sponsor, Mark faithfully cooks brats for all the golfers and spectators. Mark believes it is important to patronize Chamber member businesses, and he can be found on a regular basis at Wayzata's restaurants and retail stores.

Mark is an active Wayzata Crime Prevention Coalition member and served as president in 1995 and 2008. Every November Mark participates in the I.O.C.P. Sleep Out. Mark and Mary also participate in Catholic Charities sponsor a family program, Brooklyn Center Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity, Feed My Starving Children and many other worthy causes. 

One of his nominator’s wrote, “Mark genuinely loves the Wayzata community and is known as someone that you can always come to when there is a need. He will jump to help and do it with a smile. He has an outward optimism that is contagious and is a role model for us to follow in how to care and take pride in your community!”

The Chamber will be holding a luncheon in Scheidhauer's honor on Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Wayzata Country Club. Mark will greet friends beginning at 11:30 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon followed by the program at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non members.
