Water Main Break Will Cause Monday Closure of Bushaway Road in Wayzata

Water main break is the latest in what has become a string of pipe problems on Bushaway Road/County Road 101.

This is not an April Fools joke.

The City of  Wayzata has a water main break on Hennepin County Road 101 (Bushaway Road) at 655 Bushaway Road. City crews have throttled down the main pressure and will monitor the leak for the remainder of the weekend and repair the break on Monday, April 1.

This is not the first time in recent months that a water main has broken in the area and caused significant traffic detours. In September of 2011 a pipe broke on the 500 block of Bushaway Road just north of the Grays Bay Bridge, causing a 24 hour road closure and detour. Another water main in Februray of this year near the same location, causing another day long closure and detour.

A sewer line also broke in the area during September 2011, resulting in the slow leakage of raw sewage for several days. The break happened less than 100 yards from Lake Minnetonka, but no contamination was recorded. MORE

Bushaway Road is scheduled to undegro extensive reconstruction next year.
