Upgrades Underway on Local Stretch of Hwy. 7

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be resurfacing Highway 7, between Interstate 494 in Minnetonka and Vine Hill Road in Deephaven.

According to the city, the work will occur overnight from June 3 to June 15, and will require both full and partial closures of the highway. During times when Highway 7 is fully closed, the city will post detours as well as use flaggers to assist motorists from neighborhoods with no other outlet besides Highway 7.

The current schedule is as follows:

• On June 3 through June 5 crews will resurface westbound Highway 7 between County Road 101 and I-494. The roadway will be reduced to a single lane at 8:30 p.m. and be fully closed at 10 p.m. June 3. One lane of traffic will reopen by 7 a.m. June 4 and both lanes will close again at 10 p.m. that day. Both lanes will reopen by noon on June 5.
• On June 6 and June 7 both directions of Highway 7 will be closed overnight between Vine Hill Road and Williston Road from 9:30 p.m. until 5:30 a.m.
• On June 10 through June 12 crews will resurface eastbound Highway 7 between County Road 101 and I-494. The roadway will be reduced to a single lane at 7 p.m. and be fully closed at 9 p.m. June 10. One lane of traffic will reopen by 6 a.m. June 11 and both lanes will close again at 9 p.m. that day. Both lanes will reopen by noon June 12.
• Overnight on June 15 alternating lane closures on Highway 7 will be required for striping.

The work will include the milling of the existing asphalt, overlay of new asphalt and also striping, the city said. The work is dependent on clear skies and schedules may change due to inclement weather.
