Today: Runners Lace up for Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon

Thousands expected to descend on the area for annual race.

Lake Minnetonka will be at the center of Minnesota's running circle today as thousands are expected to descend on the area for the 31st Annual Lake Minnetonka Half Marathon.

Runners will begin their 13.1 mile route in Wayzata and conclude their race at Commons Park in Excelsior. The starting gun fires at 8 a.m., with runners departing the start line in three seperate waves.

Race director Adam Kocinski tells Patch that about 3,100 runners have registered for this year's race.

Forecasts call for a chance of morning showers with temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s at race time.
