What You Need to Know About This Weekend's Annual Chilly Open Golf Tournament in Wayzata

Golfers wearing zany gear will have a chance to navigate one of two nine-hole courses using clubs, hockey sticks or any other contraption they can to sink a tennis ball on Wayzata Bay.

The Greater Wayzata Area Chamber of Commerce will once again host the annual "Chilly Open" on Lake Minnetonka this Saturday. About 1,000 golfers from throughout the region are exptected to be in Wayzata for the Feb. 9 tournament, which this year will feature a "the 80s are back" theme.

This is the 29th year Wayzata has hosted the Chilly Open, which has grown to be one of Lake Minnetonka's most popular winter events.

Tee times for the 2013 Chilly Open are 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Former Minnesota Vikings lineman Steve Hutchinson, former Minnesota Twin Ron Coomer and Wayzata Mayor Ken Wilcox served as judges for the highly sought after "best chili" awards during last year's event. Sunsets Restaurant was declared the "Best In Chili," and the Wayzata Bar & Grill recieved the "Hottest Chili Award."
