Patch Pick: Excelsior Home Style Tour Focuses on Décor and Design
Local stores will host trunk shows and offer design tips and demos.
The third Excelsior Home Style Tour takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Friday and Saturday. Six home décor and design stores will offer decorating tips, demos, trunk shows, refreshments and more.
“People love to go from store to store on the tour,” said Julie R. Woodward, event coordinator and owner of My European Treasures. “And we like to do fun things in our stores for each event.”
Shortly after she opened her store on 2nd Street in Excelsior last year, Woodward contacted the South Lake Excelsior Chamber of Commerce to see if they had ideas about how to increase traffic to her store. They suggested hosting an event or a tour with other stores.

Woodward reached out to owners of similar stores to see if there was an interest in working together. The group decided to hold Excelsior Home Style Tours every three months to showcase the range of home furnishings and accessories that Excelsior has to offer.
“And being small stores, we are able to give great customer service to our customers,” said Woodward.

Two previous Home Style Tours have taken place, one in December and one in March. Woodward said the tours have been well attended and have increased traffic at all of the stores. Four out of the six participating stores have been in Excelsior for less than one year, so it’s been a great event to give visibility to the new stores in town.
At this weekend’s Home Style Tour, some of the stores will have a theme, including “A Taste of France” at My European Treasures and “Color Inspiration for Summer” at The Sitting Room.
Jackie’s and 2 B Inspired will host jewelry trunk shows. Mary O’Neal & Company will offer a free appraisal on a treasure brought to the store during the tour and Petunia’s will help visitors with flower pot combinations.
Attendees can pick up a stamp card at any of the six participating stores, which will be punched at each store. Punched cards can be turned in at the last store visited to be eligible for a drawing. Each store will give away one $50 gift certificate.
