Ten Aphrodisiacs to Sweeten Your Valentine's Day

Known historically to activate passion in whoever consumes them, these foods are a perfect addition to your holiday meal.

Aphrodisiacs have been said to activate desire in those who eat them with their aromas, physical appearance, taste and vitamins. With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, HealthPartners Health Coach, Hannah Carlson, shared ten aphrodisiac foods that are perfect for the holiday.

Carlson also notes that these foods are heart-healthy.

“Not only can these foods be found in many recipes, but they allow you to celebrate the holiday in a delicious and healthy way,” she said.

These aphrodisiacs can be used to enhance your dining experience and create a romantic evening for your loved one:

  • oysters
  • asparagus
  • almonds
  • avocado
  • figs
  • bananas
  • basil
  • garlic
  • honey
  • dark chocolate

For a fun, healthy dinner that includes a few of these ingredients, Carlson suggests grilled salmon with basil and garlic, a side of asparagus and chocolate-cherry mini tarts with avocado for dessert.
