St. Therese Quiz Bowl Team Advances to National Competition

St. Therese will now advance to the NAQT National Tournament which will in Chicago April 26-28, 2013.

St. Therese 8th graders competed in the Minnesota Middle School National Academic Quiz Bowl Tournament at Minnetonka High School on Saturday, Dec. 8. Sixteen teams and 75 students participated in the Middle School NAQT.

St. Therese earned 3rd place, and Mark D. came in 6th place in the individual standings.

"Quiz Bowl has been a very enlightening experience," Principal Lauren Caton said. "We’ve learned that teamwork and communication are very important and that everybody is smart in a particular way. Also, we’ve learned that to do well in Quiz Bowl we don’t need paid coaches, fancy uniforms or even a lot of practice; we just need excellent teachers and great learning opportunities, which we’ve had at St. Therese since kindergarten."

More from Principal Caton: "This experience, although very nerve racking, was super fun! We would like to thank Sr. Tresa Jose for encouraging us to participate, all of our parents for supporting us, and our teachers for giving us the tools we need to be successful."
